Our Research
Confronting climate change. Anthropogenic climate change is one of the most urgent and important challenges of the 21st century. However, strategies for dealing with climate change and its possible consequences are characterised by uncertainties. The DKCC research programme aims to achieve a better understanding of these uncertainties and to develop criteria for threshold values in the sense of critical points at which the continuity of the system is at risk. The DKCC researches strategies for a transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy and society, which are linked to a fundamental transformation of the various economic, social, political and legal processes.
Independent and collaborative research is conducted on theories of justice, ethics, environmental law and the economics of climate change as well as in the fields of physical climate research, meteorology and hydrology, systems and sustainability sciences. Organisationally, three groups conduct research at the DKCC, which promote synergies on a regular basis of cooperation. Research at the DKCC is intended to contribute to answering the two overarching research questions of the DKCC Climate Change.
