Mentoring

Career and personal development. In addition to the supervisor and co-supervisor, each student has a mentor. We understand mentoring as a “beneficial relationship in which one person shares his/her knowledge, skills and experience to guide and assist the other person to progress in his/her own life and career”. The students choose their mentor themselves with regard to what supports them best in developing and achieving their goals. Mentors can be senior scientific experts, for example professors, or peers/alumni from the 1st phase of the DKCC. Overall the mentor supports the doctoral student with his/her career and personal development. Together, they formulate visions for the PhD project and they speak about professional and personal aspirations. Moreover, the mentor can be contacted in case of a conflict.
